Just recently, I commented to my husband about three friends funerals that I missed due to being away:(…During one, my young granddaughter and I threw a lai into the Pacific Ocean with our own little remembrance. Thank you Molly for helping put words to my feelings of unfinished business.
As someone who led many grief groups and did lots of grief counseling I could not agree more. We need to go back to real grieving and real funerals and stop making those in grief try and feel good.
Reading about your feeling your mother after she passed reminded me of when my father passed a long tome ago. It was the during the second game of the 1986 World Series definitely not my best week. Any way for months when our 3 year old son would do something I would have that thought that I need to tell Dad no I wonder if he was there all along. Hugs!
Molly, just wanted to say hi. I am retiring as Utility Aide at The West Somerville Neighborhood School. Tomorrow is my last day. I will miss it a lot, but at age 73 (ugh!) I guess it is about time. Hope you and the family are all doing well. Whenever we drive down College Ave, I think of you all, especially Carmen. I still believe she and I should be in the Guiness Book of world records for reading each and every "Arthur" book in the Somerville library at least three times :)
Dick!!!! I'm so happy to hear from you! Blessed retirement today--well done, good and faithful servant. We all remember you so fondly--for being an angel for us all during my chemo year. I showed Rafe and Carmen your comment and they are deeply touched <3
truly, made my day to know you are well and good. give our love to Somerville! Did you see someone set a fire in the church last Sunday? Infuriating.
